Corsica!

France was one of the places I had never been, until we visited Corsica- the island in South of France. Corsica is considered as Caribbean in Europe with its big mountains, lagune light beaches, beautiful architecture and delicious French - Mediterranean cuisine. As well as interesting history- still Napoleon's birthplace. I think it is the place that has something for everyone. Our journey started with cheap Ryanair flights from Copenhagen, through Brussels, to Corsica. We landed in Figari in the south of island and drove directly to the northwest of the island to our first stop, Calvi.  Really, really beautiful place!

Calvi

After Calvi we continued our journey towards wine yard, "castle style" hotel on the top of the mountains.  This place was awesome! As the town was so small that there were almost nowhere to go, the plan was to spend our day with hiking, walking and sun-bathing near the pool. However, as usually life had some other plans and instead we spent half a day in our room as we were not allowed to go out.

One local man who was diagnosed schizophrenia killed a person basically in front of our hotel. He shoot a man driving his car with his wife next to him. The man unfortunately did not survive the shot. After the tragedy the whole place was locked down and special police hunted the shooter all over the area. We were told to stay at the hotel and not move anywhere. However, we, of course did not understand how serious the situation was  and sneaked out to have some sun and chill at the pool.

Hotel guy followed us and invited (demanding way) back to inside, he probably thought we were crazy. Luckily, after some time the guy was found and everyone was safe. It felt like I was in real life Midsomer Murders- small beautiful village you would never think something happens. Since, childhood I have always been in the middle of weird or even dangerous situations. That to say, I was also in Brussels when during the terror attack the whole city was locked down. Furthermore, three years ago in Valentine's Day after shooting in Copenhagen, the main guy was basically killed next to my house. I was preparing half of a day to go out at night and suddenly the news said that people should stay inside and should not open their doors- definitely Valentine's Day I will  always remember. I actually think that, it does not really matter where you are as things can happen everywhere. And I do believe that there is higher chance to be hit by the car rather to be subject to terror or other similar events. However, we should always be conscious where we go, how we behave and listen our inner voice. ;)

After all the crazy experiences we continued our trip towards Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio (South of island). Beach lovers and party animals will definitely find there paradies. We skipped the nightlife but experienced some sights, hiking and nice beaches. With light blue water as promised.
